little giant blueberry plantsAreĀ  the Little Giant Blueberries a Scam?

If you are looking for a colorful sales pitch about the Little Giant Blueberry Plants then you need to look elsewhere. There are so many sites out there these days that are really only trying to get people to part with their money and not really give you an honest to goodness, and insightful product review anymore. Well, I have decided to break the mold here and give you a down to earth product review on the Little Giant Blueberries.

I assume you are reading this because you saw the infomercial on late night or day time TV for the Little Giant Blueberries right? They have obviously done a very good job of promoting this product on TV and they must be ding something right because I’ve seen this product advertised for a few years now. Well, I finally decided to take the plunge and try it a couple of years ago, and I’m going to tell you about that experience.

The company claims that the Little Giant Blueberry Plants can produce 4 pints of blueberries a day, well, I am here to tell you that I did not get that kind of volume out of my plants. When the Blueberry Plants arrived in the mail I was sort of expecting a more substantial plant and was immediately turned off by the scrawny twig-like cuttings I got. But, I stuck them in a pot with some potting soil and watered them whenever I would remember too. Basically, I abused them pretty bad, and they didn’t produce much, but they did produce. The blueberries tasted great and I still had enough to do what I wanted with them.

After researching Blueberry plants a little more I learned that they need a special fertilizer for acid loving plants and regular fertilizer is not really what they need. So, the next year I re=potted them and used some better soil and the right kind of fertilizer and the difference was incredible! I did not measure the output, but I would actually believe it could have been 4 pints a day! I had blueberries coming out of my ears and I had to start giving them away to friends family and neighbors. My freezer was over flowing with blueberries and it actually became a problem for me just to get rid of them!

So, I guess the moral of the story here is, you get out of the Little Giant Blueberries what you put into them. Blueberries are super expensive in the store, and for the lousy $10 for the cuttings (which really thrive quickly if you use the right stuff), you simply can’t go wrong. If you have a lot of birds you may want to get some bird netting to throw over the plants to keep them from making a mess out of them. Other than that, I would actually highly recommend the Blueberry Giant Plants to anyone willing to put in the effort to use the right fertilizer and grow them the way they are supposed to be grown.

By the way, If you use the buy now button below they will give you 3 plants instead of just 2 when you order.
